Consulting assignment Essay Example for Free
Consulting assignment Essay What are the potential sources of the problem? The source of these problems seems to be coming from two areas in Interwest Healthcare. The first area is the miscommunication that the hospital administrators are having with upper management. The hospital administrators and upper management are not only having miscommunication issues but they also do not share the same role expectations with each other which is creating tension. ââ¬Å"The hospital people accused Singh of being a bureaucrat who did not care about patient services. Singh accused the hospital staffs of not understanding the importance of accurate reportingâ⬠(Brickley, Smith Zimmerman 2009 p. 38). The second area is the system or process that is in place for recording and entering data. The current process is clearly not running at an efficient rate which is raising concerns for upper management. Even though hospital administrators do not see to eye to eye with upper management the concerns that they have are valid and can have a very negative impact on Interwest Healthcare if the issue is not resolved. What information would you want to analyze? The first information that would be analyzed is the process that is done to record and enter data for patients. It is important to gain as much information as possible regarding the data entry because that is the root of the whole issue between hospital administrators and upper management. Another area that would be analyzed is the workplace with emphasis on how time is managed and the importance employees put on data entry. It is important to gather and analyze as much information as possible on the source of the problem. By gaining and analyzing the information it would help Interwest Healthcare make progress on the data entry issue which will put them in a better position to succeed. What actions might you recommend to increase the accuracy of the data entry? The first point of action would be streamlining and simplifying the data entry process. By completing those it would not only increase the accuracy of the data entry but it would also decrease the burden on the hospital administrators. But before any changes to the data entry process are made it is important to communicate directly to the hospital administrators. It is important to have the hospital administrators on board with the changes that will be made with the data entry process. By gaining the hospital administrators consent with the changes this will allow a smoother transition for the data entry change and it could provide a positive change to the workplace. As for the changes to the data entry it would most likely be a simple computer process along with small piece of paperwork. It would be best to have some sort or paper record on file that would need to be alphabetized along with a simple computer program. The computer program would help ensure accuracy and would have the patientââ¬â¢s data record on file which will be easy to locate. There would be very little paper work for the process mainly because it takes up space and takes more time to record. The paper work that is part of the process would simply serve as a backup if the computers were down. The key to ensuring accuracy with the data entry is to make the process as simple as possible so it would minimize the errors. How does your view of behavior affect how you might address the consulting assignment? As a consulting assignment I see Interwest Healthcare as a company in distress due to the way the hospital administrators and upper management. The way the two groups have been behaving and treating each other it is a clear sign of stress and miscommunication. One of the first tasks is to mediate the two groups and try to have everyone on the same page. There is a clear disconnect on the expectations of each otherââ¬â¢s roles but by bringing them together the roles and expectations can be made by both parties and progress can be accomplished. In order to make progress both parties will need to be able to compromise and be willing to understand each otherââ¬â¢s concerns and priorities. Refreneces : Brickley, J.A., Smith, C.W. Lorraine Hansberrys A Raisin In The Sun â⬠Freedom :: Raisin Sun essays
A Raisin in the Sun ââ¬â Freedom Have you ever found money coming between you and your family and disrupting love and life? Money can destroy families and change them for the worse. In the Raisin in the Sun, the author Lorraine Hansberry, uses events of her life to relate and explain how the Younger family, of Chicago's South side, struggles and improves throughout the book. One main cause for their family's problems is because of money and how it causes anger to control the family. The play deals with situations in which the family is dealing with unhappiness from money. Walter, the man of the house in the Younger family, tries impressing Travis, his son, too much with money instead of teaching him the more important lessons of life. Walter also dreams to invest in a liquor store and make a lot of money and becomes overwhelmed and badly caught up in his dream. Lastly, the Younger family is much too dependent on the check their Mama is receiving. The family has lost the fact that their mama tries to tell them, before, freedom was life but now money seems to have the controlling factor in life. When money becomes an obsession for a family, problems occur. Walter seems to be a good father to Travis, but starts to lose control by the end of the play. When with Travis, Walter relates too much to money, instead of focusing on their family fun in life. Walter tries to impress Travis with money and thinks that teaching Travis to be rich is the happiest way to go. In the play, it shows that Travis is becoming like his father and is starting to think about money at too young of an age. In scene two in Raisin in the Sun, Travis complains to his mother, Ruth, that he wants to work so he can earn some money. His father responds by giving Travis money and trying to impress him. Walter says to Travis, "In fact, here's another fifty cents... Buy yourself some fruit today or take a taxicab to school or something!"(Page 30). It is all right to be happy with money but it shouldn't be the reason to be proud of your family.

Literary Analysis Essay
To write a good story, not only ideas take place. You need to use literary devices in order to provide a good story. The best mentor to look up is Sue Monk Kidd. She used a lot of literary devices in her story which is called The Secret Life of Bees. The three main literary devices which she used throughout her story are: epigraphs, character development and allusions. ââ¬Å"Heat would make a person do strange things.â⬠(112).Specially we see this when is described Lilyââ¬â¢s hard life without the main person of her, without her mother. Since her mother died she is an orphan and her father doesnââ¬â¢t care for her even though she has her nanny that loves her. Not only she needs her mother to care for her or love her, but also she needs her in daily life to help her going through her childhood and teenage problems that every single person goes through. The most common literary device which you will see, while you read the book are epigraphs. This is shown in the beginning of every chapter, giving the readers many hints and some sort of warning of what might be happening in the story. This is an optional device which you choose to use. But it put epigraphs to give you clues on what she will talk next. This is one example: ââ¬Å"A worker [bee] is just over a centimeter long and weighs only about sixty milligrams; nevertheless, she can fly with a load heavier than herself.â⬠ââ¬âThe Honey Bee (257) The Secret Life of Bees. This foreshadows you that the main character who is Lily, a 14-year-old girl, is carried too much responsibility on her shoulders, about what sheââ¬â¢s going through. Other device that develops ones story, being the most important device in my opinion, is the character development. It pictures the things that the character goes through and how they change throughout the story, most of the characters change a lot during the whole book .Character development explains every detail, until the final touch that that character goes through. We see the main character Lily develops so much through this story. In the beginning we see her as an innocent girl, which she does everything to find out more about her mother. Last but not leastâ⬠¦allusions. Why is it important to put them in your story? Allusions as you know, is the reference of something that has happened in history, that everybody knows about. If you put them in your story, you makeà your story real. You make the readers feel it, actually live it. Sue Monk Kidd uses allusions to help you understand what is going on in more details. Thatââ¬â¢s what you should do. Some of the allusions which are very important to be named is where the author put in THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT. This automatically touches your brain by telling you that this was in the 60ââ¬â¢s and that the colored people where fighting to win their rights. Also adding, it brings you that feeling that you think youââ¬â¢re living in the story, being able to relate in anyoneââ¬â¢s everyday life. Another allusion is the WAILING WALL which May writes on it every time somebody dies. In conclusion to this, Allusions help the story by allowing the audience to relate and apply these reasoningââ¬â¢s in their lives. Briefly explained, the three literary devices which would be good to include in stories are: epigraphs, character development and allusions. This brings your story to a point that the reader believes they are actually living the story, feeling every single detail of it. So, all in all, literary devices increase more use of detailed writing and allows people to understand what is going on.

The Daffodils and Composed Upon Westminster Bridge...
Essay question on the comparison between two poems by Wordsworth Q. Compare and contrast how Wordsworth depicts nature in ââ¬ËThe Daffodilsââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËSonnet : Composed Upon Westminster Bridgeââ¬â¢. (2-3 pages) The question asks you to compare how Wordsworth illuminates and expresses nature in the two poems written by him, ââ¬ËThe Daffodilsââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËSonnet: Composed Upon Westminster Bridgeââ¬â¢. There are some similarities and differences in the two poems, and these create different atmosphere even though both poems are about nature. For example, in the poem ââ¬ËThe Daffodilsââ¬â¢, the subject of the poem are flowers, which are small and tiny, while the poem ââ¬ËSonnet: Composed Upon Westminster Bridgeââ¬â¢ expresses the landscape of the ââ¬Ëcityââ¬â¢, which sounds prettyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The number of times ââ¬Ëdancingââ¬â¢ has been mentioned is numerous, and this created a cheerful, active atmosphere in the poem, while the ââ¬ËSonnet: Composed Upon Westminster Bridgeââ¬â¢ has more of static atmosphere due to its subject matter, which are buildings, early morning when not much people are on the street. Similes can also be mentioned in the Daffodils, which created imaginative, and impressive feeling that Apparently rhyme scheme is used in both poems, which usually creates rhythmic tone in the poem. However, we can find out that the structure and the sequence of the rhyme is different. While ââ¬ËSonnet: Composed Upon Westminster Bridgeââ¬â¢ has a sequence of ABBAABBA(Octave) ââ¬â DEDEDE(Sestet), which is called ââ¬ËPetrarchan Sonnetââ¬â¢, ââ¬ËThe Daffodilsââ¬â¢ has a sequence of ABABCC in each stanza, which appears to be more structured and organized which also affected on the cheerful atmosphere on ââ¬ËThe Daffodilsââ¬â¢. The structure is also taking an important part in the two poems, and itââ¬â¢s clear that the two poems have different structures: Sonnet ââ¬â Octave Sestet; The Daffodils ââ¬â Organized four st anzas with same lines. In the Sonnet, the octave represents the city, how it looks like when in the early morning, and the sestet represents the nature inside the city, which the poet omitted in order that he was busy with something else, as other urban
